Cirila Valdez

In Loving Memory

7/9/195110/27/2024

Age 73

She was born Cirila Partida Arambula, but for more than 40 years, she was known as Cirila Valdez. She was a daughter, a sister to 12, an aunt to dozens, a friend to countless, a wife, a grandmother to five, and a mother to three. Above all, she was a strong, independent, hardworking, dedicated, loving woman who would tell you off if you stepped out of line. She could be sweet or sour, but her love was never in question.

She grew up too fast, having to care for her siblings at an early age, but she felt it was her responsibility to help out. Helping out—that was something she never stopped doing. She was a backbone that many relied on. She wasn’t perfect—absolutely no one is—but her teachings and life lessons are invaluable: work hard, treat others well, put family first, go to school, and get an education because no one can take that away from you.

And if you were a woman, well, that meant you had a few extra rules: have YOUR career, have YOUR money, have YOUR car, build YOUR credit, know YOUR worth, and above all, don’t let ANYONE make you believe you are lesser. If they try... a la chingada.

Our entire family is blessed to have had her. We are beyond sad not to have her physically here. Heck, we’re even going to miss her maltratadas. Yet, amidst this sadness, we are comforted knowing she is now with her parents, siblings, her Chango Peludo (aka Papi), and, for me personally, my son.

Resting in peace will be hard for her. She loved being out in the streets, shopping, traveling (even during covid), and we can't forget Disneyland. She can now enjoy those Disney fireworks from the heavens. She is now free of all pain and can enjoy heaven any way she wants.

So, Ama, "Nos vemos más al rato. Ahora descanse. Nosotros vamos a estar bien. Love you."
