A warm and caring son, loving father, brother, uncle, and friend, John PJ Ziko passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in Torrance, CA. He was 30 years old. He touched many lives with his bigger than life personality, charisma, loving nature, unlimited talents, and profound knowledge. He will be interred at a burial service at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, CA. John was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and resided in Lomita, California. A student of Hawthorne High School from 2006 to 2009 in his hometown of Hawthorne, and a graduate of Lloyd School in 2010 in Lawndale, he later attended El Camino College to further his studies in Administrative Justice in 2012. He then furthered his studies at the El Camino Law Enforcement Academy in pursuit of his dream to be a police officer in 2016 and is the graduating class of 67-3. During his studies, he pursued a career as a security professional in 2012 working first in loss prevention and event security to later working with Olympian Security Services as a security professional and guard. In a short amount of time, he was promoted as one of the youngest directors in all of Los Angeles as a Director of Sales and Marketing at the age of 21. He later took a position at with the security firm, V Companies, as Regional Director of Operations and later became a private investigator. He expanded his knowledge and experience throughout the years and in his career with many other well-known security companies including Bay Valley Security, Security Enforcement Group, and CIS to name a few, developing security programs, operational training materials, staffing, and more which added value to the companies he helped grow. His love and passion for what he did not only defined his talents, but made him the leader that changed so many lives by what he did.
A constant student of life seeking knowledge and education, he was an avid reader. John was a music lover, played several instruments, wrote poetry and had an immense appreciation for the arts. He was a true artist. He not only enjoyed reading, watching movies, writing stories, drawing artwork, but playing sports, such as, basketball and teaching self-defense. He was a very talented man with a beautiful soul. He was loved by so many. He was vivacious, intelligent, gifted, kind and loved to entertain people with his stories and humor. He was loved by all who came to know him. He enjoyed philosophical discussions, politics, and spending time with his friends. Family was the core of his being. He loved his family especially his children, and enjoyed family gatherings and events.
John is survived by his four children, Emma Michelle of Whitter, Sophia, Liam and Landon of Inglewood; both parents, his mother, Nancy Ziko and father, Michael Dennis; his four brothers, Tom Wasso (Kathy) of Torrance, CA; Jerry Wasso of Torrance, CA; Angelo Stein (Tina) of Long Beach, CA; Steve Ziko of Lomita, CA; his only sister, Laverne Rita (Stevie) of Sugarhill, TX. In addition, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. His loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Friends and Family are invited to a Visitation on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. with a Funeral Service and Viewing on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at Continental Funeral Home at the chapel, 13806 Hawthorne Blvd, Hawthorne, CA 90250. Funeral Burial to immediately follow at 2:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, CA 90301. Reception to follow at 3:30 P.M. – 5:30 P.M. at La Cocina Mexicana, 21718 Vermont Ave., #2118, Torrance, CA 90502.
